A strategy consultant by training, his early career specialised in shared services, offshoring and outsourcing in the financial services industry. Some chance encounters led him into the legal sector around 18 years ago when he realised how differently law departments operated compared to other corporate functions. At the forefront of leading change for many years in the legal industry, he believes there remain huge opportunities as law departments face increasing work volumes, forcing legal teams to digitise at pace and look at alternative delivery models. Generative AI is poised to have an outsized disruption – potentially putting legal teams as the leaders not laggards in adoption. This will be felt particularly in the contracts’ domain, the prodigal artefact at the heart of legal and commercial work.
