As Chief Executive Officer of Openreach Limited, Clive is responsible for leading the UK’s largest digital infrastructure company and supporting more than 700 communications providers to connect their 30 million customers throughout the country. Under his leadership, Openreach is building a new, more reliable and future-proof 'full fibre' national broadband network, with a target to reach 25 million premises by December 2026 and an ambition to get to as many as 30 million by the end of the decade.

Clive is an Honorary Colonel of 81 Signal Squadron (Army Reserve) and one of Europe’s leading telecoms and digital infrastructure experts, with more than 30 years’ experience in the sector. In June 2021, he was awarded a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours list 2021, for services to the telecommunications industry during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Before Openreach, Clive was the chief information officer for BT Group, and chief executive of its technology division. He went to Eltham College and the University of Bristol, and has a degree in electrical and electronic engineering. He also holds a master’s in management from Lancaster University.
