Supporting Hampshire County Council

Tighter funding at local government has spurred councils to innovate and reform their services. We are proud to be part of Hampshire County Council's Private Sector Partnership (PSP), where we are helping the council transform to meet its priorities and increase efficiency and effectiveness. We have brought insight from our wider Deloitte network and from the public and private sectors to the council’s Corporate Management Team to help develop its use of digital as well as skills in strategy, supply chain, cost reduction, performance management and programme leadership.

We have also supported council staff in learning to take more of a private-sector approach to delivery – for example, by managing a bid process for them to help them understand what is involved in developing a commercial proposal. We have also encouraged knowledge transfer by inviting staff to attend industry events, and by arranging for the council to visit the Marks and Spencer and Kellogg’s shared service centres, to help them understand how the private sector operates.
