Hereford & Worcester PFI: providing energy for up to 20,000 homes
How can a Deloitte team help provide energy for up 20,000 homes? Our team supported Herefordshire and Worcestershire councils in the development of an innovative financing solution to vary an operational waste management services contract. This will help enable the construction of a £195 million energy from waste facility. Sourcing renewable, clean and secure energy supplies forms a fundamental part of the UK’s energy policy and there is strong Government support for new technologies that promote renewable energy production.
Our team worked with the councils, DEFRA, the Treasury and the project sponsor to develop an affordable funding solution that met a wide range of stakeholder needs and provided the councils with value for money. The project marks a significant step forward in the use of public funds to finance infrastructure, and will make a significant contribution to a sustainable waste management solution for the region.
