Case study
Trade missions to India and Africa
In May 2013, David Cameron set off on his second trade mission to India with the aim of driving trade and investment between the two countries. Vassi Naidoo (Vice Chairman - International Markets) was invited to join his 100-strong business delegation, demonstrating the government’s recognition of our important role supporting British companies to expand overseas. During the visit we launched India Matters: winning in growth markets, an insight piece that was widely debated in Indian and UK media and has since contributed to UK policy discussions on India.
A number of our Partners also joined the Lord Mayor on his visits to Angola, Nigeria, Russia, India and the Middle East this year. Each of these trips deepened relationships and strengthened trade ties between the City and the local market. We also joined Manchester’s agency for inward investment, MIDAS, on a trip to Bangalore and Mumbai to talk to local Indian companies about opportunities in the UK regions.
“Having Deloitte join us on our recent sales mission to India proved incredibly valuable ... Their in-depth knowledge on taxation regulations was a real asset when speaking to Indian companies looking to expand their business into the UK.”
