Deloitte's David Hare was appointed President of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in June 2013. David's priority as President is to 'ramp up the relevance' of actuaries, by promoting the wide applicability of actuarial science and analytical skills, not just in the traditional areas of pensions and insurance but also across other industries and markets.

Actuaries are in great demand throughout the financial sector in the UK and abroad and make a distinctive contribution to the industry as mathematically skilled, rigorous and regulated risk experts. This appointment provides David with the opportunity to emphasise the importance of professionalism and risk analysis across financial services as well as increase the profile of actuarial problem-solving and analytical skills in helping firms deliver increased value for their customers and shareholders.
