Qualified surveyor Daniel Lovatt, an Assistant Director with Drivers Jonas Deloitte, swapped the rain of London for the majesty of Berlin, Germany, in 2011 for an opportunity to enhance his client skills and build contacts with peers around the network of member firms.

Working in our real estate team, he was one of two senior managers invited to attend a three-day training course with some 250 senior managers from across EMEA* (Europe, Middle East and Africa) member firms.

The purpose of the course was to extend their international networks and to develop new perspectives on how to create long-term, productive relationships with clients.

The course put me in a better position to lead and helped me understand my clients better – to be more focused around their needs. It was an amazing experience that taught me how to operate outside of my silo and it has led to new business in the public sector. Learning experiences at Deloitte are second to none, and although the course sometimes helped me to see things that can seem obvious now, it certainly opened my eyes to the power of the firm.”

*This EMEA course will be available to Deloitte Senior Managers across the UK in 2012/13.
