Drivers Jonas Deloitte has supported the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) in one of its most ambitious projects to date, developing a mould-breaking ‘Plan for Growth’ for the built environment sector to deliver growth and jobs in a resource-constrained economy.
For the UK-GBC, this project provided an opportunity to question its members on what the sector needs to do to generate economic growth, meet customers’ needs and deliver positive social and environmental outcomes.
Drivers Jonas Deloitte provided project management services and research support to the UK-GBC identifying key stakeholders and developing a series of work plans and programmes to guide client and stakeholder involvement. These yielded an awareness that, in a future of constrained resources and with increasingly demanding consumers, rapid innovation and responsiveness right across the supply chain will be required and senior figures at both Drivers Jonas Deloitte, alongside other UK-GBC member organisations, participated in innovation workshops, to develop resource-efficient ideas for the industry.
The resulting Plan for Growth was developed by industry for industry, and presents a raft of resource-efficient business ideas highlighting opportunities to do business differently. It seeks to inspire and ignite businesses across the industry to explore opportunities to disrupt the market, identify partnerships and broaden services for the benefit of the consumer, the environment and the future prosperity of their business. Among its proposals are community investment schemes, self-build homes, online tools to search for green homes and services, rental schemes that allow tenants to build up equity, and greater flexibility in the rental of office space.
