Deloitte’s approach to emerging technology companies has been to “talent spot” the sector’s potential future stars.
This is the 15th year of the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 – the UK's foremost awards programme ranking the country's 50 fastest-growing technology companies based on revenue growth over the last five years. Previous winners, from across the UK, include some of the most dynamic players in tech, biotech and digital media technology, including CSR, which was ranked second in the UK Fast 50 in 2005, with a growth rate of 5,512 per cent.
CSR is a spinoff of Cambridge Consultants, a company at the heart of the Cambridge technology cluster. Starting in a small office in Cambridge, CSR is now a leading semiconductor business in audio, connectivity, location and imaging technologies with more than 2,000 employees around the world.
We have advised the company from its origins as a small, exciting Cambridge start-up to today’s FTSE 250 global business with annual revenue of around $1 billion. During this time Deloitte has provided services from right across the firm including global audit, and tax compliance, tax advisory and multiple advisory projects. We also advised the company at pivotal stages in its lifetime: on the London IPO in 2004 and on two transformational US acquisitions and subsequent NASDAQ listing in 2011.
Giving companies like CSR profile and endorsement through the UK Fast 50 early on in their life cycle helps them to accelerate, gain recognition and open up new opportunities. We have seen tremendous performance amongst our UK Fast 50 winners over the years, with an average five-year growth rate of 16,307 per cent amongst the top five winners in 2011.
